What an incredible first season (2004-2005). Seventeen violins, one viola and one cello met and played as a group for the first time, forming Jefferson County Missouri’s first ever Youth Symphony. My hat is off, a standing ovation and big applauds to all the musicians. Many new friends were made and every ones talent has improved immensely. As for a stage confidence, let’s just say they have come a long way from the first audition. With a Holiday performance at Westfield’s South County Shopping Center, a trip to St. Louis to play live on KNOV-5 TV Show Me St. Louis, an unbelievable spring concert at Jefferson College and an outdoor concert at a local fair. They have accomplished a lot. Oh, and not to forget the many hours of practice they have done on their own. The musicians present themselves and perform as an experienced, professional symphony.
This is one symphony that I am proud to be the director of.
I am anxiously waiting the 2005-2006 Season. With all the new applications that have been received and the return of last Seasons musicians, I know (from experience)
That more new friends will be made and more talent will be explored.

“We have lost our string programs in the educational systems but we will never lose the talent. Who will play the violin? What is a cello? Is a viola an instrument? Can a bass be played classically? These questions are already being asked. It’s never too late and yes we can do some thing about it!”
